""To eat is a necessity, but to eat intelligently is an art."" ― François de la Rochefoucauld
We believe that good food is an important part of any holiday. In France especially, there are so many opportunities to eat well.
Every tent comes with BBQ cooking facilities and you will find fully equipped field kitchen where you can cook for yourselves.
For ingredients, there are covered or open air markets close by every day, offering a wealth of French produce from Charentais melons and Pineau to Oleron oysters and potatoes from the Ile de Re and everything in between.
Why not treat yourselves to a holiday without cooking. You can book breakfast or evening meals in advance and enjoy home cooked good food on the meadow with no driving and no washing up.
Our continental breakfast features local pastries, honey and yogurt with seasonal fruit and homemade jam. Click here to see an example menu.
Dinner is a freshly home-made three course set menu. Using seasonal, home grown, locally grown and reared ingredients, the meal is served a la Francaise so that the whole table can help themselves. You will find an example menu here
There are, of course, plenty of places to eat out. Try the Michelin starred Dyades restaurant at the Domaine des Etangs or the Moulin de Tardoire just minutes away. For a simpler meal on the farm La Ferme Assaisonnée opens its doors on a Saturday and Sunday and the Auberge de Ferme de Javernac serves food in a chateau setting. The Auberge de Lac in a nearby village also serves excellent local produce.
